From Diane Zeitlin: Photography takes me out of my head and brings me into an intimate, visceral, wordless relationship with the world around me. I find myself drawn to abstractions and reflections, transformations of the familiar – or of what we might think of as real. More and more I can see that shape and shadow has become central to my work. It's not so much an interest in abstraction over representation; it's more a question of shifting focus to a part of what is always there but is, in some ways, so easily overlooked. Day to day I know I miss so much. Maybe I'm just trying to balance things out: to pay a bit more attention.
